Bialski is one of the biggest districts in Poland. It is inhabited by about 114 000 people. The main sector of economy in the district is agriculture, with 50% of people in productive age. The main form of ownership is individual agriculture which establishes 95% of land crops. The other 5 % of the land crops are former PGR and agriculture cooperatives. The high level of participation of households constrains the opportunity of development of high-levelled commodity. The major part of inhabitants leads their households in a traditional way, with low mineral fertilizers and others. However there are a few households able to compete with those from old EU regions and districts bordering with Poland. The district borders with Ukraine and Belarus which influenced economic, cultural and social cooperation. It is placed close to the important, transcontinental communication passageway in Europe. Local authorities of the municipality have set up primary goals to be achieved, taking into consideration their specific geographic location on the border and the prospective development of trade between the former Soviet Republics and the enlarged European Union. There have been identified three aspects essential to local population: planned development of communal infrastructure, development of municipality’s educational potential and creating a conducive atmosphere for new investment. In the district there are three border crossings in Terespol, Kukuryki and Slawatycze. As it was mentioned, transport infrastructure considering international communication ways with planned motorway A2 is the main factor which influences regional development in the future. Besides, district has potential and good environmental conditions for production of health food and development of agro tourism. In Janow Podlaski there is stad of Arabic horses which is famous in the whole world.
